Registrations for the GREEN Olympiad 2023 are in progress and shall close on 31 Jul 2023. This is an annual written examination on the environment initiated by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in 1999. The examination is conducted by the Environment Education & Awareness Area (EEA) of TERI and attracts participation from school students across India and abroad.

It also addresses 'Goal 4 -Target 7'  of the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4.7) which states, 'Ensure all learners acquire knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including among others through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship, and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture's contribution to sustainable development' by 2030.

The TERI Green Olympiad is not restricted to schools in India, but participation is also seen from schools in Australia (West), Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, Indonesia, Iran, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Kuwait, Mexico D.F., Nepal, Russia, Singapore, State of Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, The Bahamas, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.

This year, it also aspires to create a convergence with Mission LiFE and promote the vision of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India to reach out to all parts of the country.

Only schools can register in 2023

GREEN Olympiad is accepting only school registration this year, with a minimum of 20 students. Individual students / Parents are requested to get in touch with your respective schools.

Key Dates: The exam will be held on 12 Oct 2023 and 2 Nov 2023. School may select a date of choice.

Registration Deadline: 31 Jul 2023

Relevant for: Class 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Awards & Recognition:

a) All participants will receive certificates.

b) Merit and distinction certificates will also be awarded based on scores.

2. Book vouchers for Global Rank Holders,

3. Invitation to attend environment and sustainability-related events conducted by TERI and related institutes.

4. Opportunity to participate in capacity building workshops on environment themes.
